As the population of every nation continues to increase, global warming can never be prevented. Overpopulation is the root of the problem the earth is now experiencing.
The problems that cause global warming mainly reflects on the rapid increasing population which results to other environmental problems such as deforestation and massive urbanization, improper waste disposal and ozone depletion.
Global warming is also known as the greenhouse effect warms the planet and threatens the ecosystems. The gases that are trapped above the atmosphere make the planet comparable to a greenhouse.
Different gases like carbon dioxide, methane, chlorofluorocarbons, nitrogen oxides, and ozone increases the planet’s temperature. These dangerous chemicals are usually emitted by refrigerators, power plants and automobiles.
The widespread industrialization of countries around the globe produces 75% of greenhouse gases. And the effects of global warming are still impossible to determine. As well as the changes on climate as a result of greenhouse effect are extremely difficult to predict.
But, there is a most possible and alarming effect of global warming if temperature rises. This would kill inhabitants both in water and in land. The probable consequence of rising temperature would be that polar ice caps would melt and raise global sea levels. Because of this, many islands will disappear and millions of inhabitants have to relocate. Also, flooding will occur along coastlines and would displace more people and ruin the cropland.
A variety of ways to combat had been promoted like policies that could successfully reduce the problem. Governments could raise fossil fuel prices, tax emissions and encourage people to take environmentally friendly actions like tree planting.
Educating people as well and increasing one’s awareness about the massive destruction of ecosystems through the use of media could help prevent the problems that ultimately lead to global warming. It is always true that knowledge is superior to ignorance.
